03 / CUSTOM PRINTING
What artwork should you prepare for custom bag printing?
The clearest printing brief combines approved artwork with a drawing of where it belongs on the bag. Start with your own brand files and exact wording, then confirm the printable area for the chosen bag construction.
Supply the artwork, approved text, colour references and print-position sketch together. Confirm a proof before production.
01
Identify the printing surface
Explain whether you want a centre band on a mesh bag, printing on a woven panel, or another arrangement. Show the bag reference, intended bag size and the sides to be printed. A design taken from a different construction may not fit the same way. Ask the factory to confirm the printing method and usable area before finalising the layout.
- Mark the opening, bottom and front of the bag on the layout.
- Show the band or panel position and its intended orientation.
- Point out seams, folds and closure areas that must remain clear.
02
Send editable artwork and a visual reference
Where available, provide an editable vector logo or print-ready PDF together with a preview image showing the intended appearance. Keep an editable master for later corrections. If you only have a photograph or low-resolution screenshot, say so early: recreating or converting it may require additional approval. Confirm acceptable file formats with the factory before transfer.
- Supply fonts or an outlined-text copy if requested for the agreed workflow.
- Send exact brand spelling and all label wording as selectable text too.
- Keep different languages and front/back versions clearly named.
03
Confirm colour and content separately
A screen image is useful for communicating a layout, but screens, fabric colour and printing processes can change the apparent result. Provide a named colour reference or physical reference if matching is important, then agree how the printed result will be approved. Check logos, product names and any contact details independently of the colour review.
- Use only artwork and brand assets you are authorised to reproduce.
- Do not reuse another customer’s identity or contact information from a sample photograph.
- Ask the relevant party to verify any barcode, regulatory wording or certification claim before it is printed.
04
Approve a version, not a loose conversation
Before production, review one clearly numbered proof with the bag reference, printing area, orientation, wording and colours. Agree whether a digital proof is sufficient or a printed sample is needed for the decision. If anything changes after approval, issue a revised version and identify which earlier proof it replaces.
- Check spelling, logo proportions, readable text and front/back orientation.
- Keep approval attached to the exact file version and specification.
- Confirm any setup cost, minimum quantity and timing in the quotation; these are order-specific.
